Relaxation Tip: Quiet the Mind

By Gordon Rosenberg
Most of us listen to our busy minds constantly, not knowing how to quiet them. We are thinking creatures for certain, but we can learn to still the mind somewhat, and pay less attention to all it has to say. Your body relaxes better when it's not being constantly distracted by thoughts, fears, and beliefs.

The mind's proper role is to control many bodily functions and remember the things we need to know, but not to control our lives. Most of us have allowed the mind, our thoughts, our beliefs to dominate our lives. We must learn to relax the mind, let it do what it's here to do and stay out of other things that are not its responsibility. It's about teaching the mind to let go of control when it's appropriate to do so.

Shift Your Energy

If you practice this exercise regularly, your mind and body will begin to relax, your thoughts will calm down, your fears may alleviate, you'll become more centered and balanced. You will realize you don't have to check in with your mind every moment. You'll learn to wait until it's important, then ask your mind what you need to know.

Eventually, the entire energy in your body may shift. You may find you can release tension and stress you've been carrying and allow both mind and body to relax. Your body will know it's free to do its work, without unnecessary interference from the mind.

Stilling the Mind Exercise

Check in with your body to be certain you're sitting comfortably. Feel your body and see if you can let go of any tension, stress, tightness you may feel. Let the body relax to a deeper level. Let your mind begin to relax, too.

Now, try to sense the activity of your mind. Just see how active it may be. Listen to its thoughts. Don't try to stop them. Just listen to what's going on in there. See how busy it is or isn't. Next, see if you can let go of any attachment to what the mind is thinking. Just let go and let the mind think what it wants.

What thoughts are there? Do you notice any sensations with the thoughts? Any feelings? Any particular awareness in your body? Are there any sensations or feelings you don't like? You can let go of anything in your mind. Your mind may wander, but you need not pay much attention to it. You don't need to know everything your mind is thinking. You don't need to feel attached to them. They're just thoughts, and thoughts are pretty much random most of the time.

You can stop worrying about what your mind is doing, and let it go wherever it wants. Don't hold on to any of it. Let go of whatever is in your mind. Just let the thoughts flow through. Coming and going. Let go of anything the mind is doing. Let go and let the thoughts go where they want.

Just Let Go

This is all there is to working with the mind in this way. At least in the beginning. There is just letting go and letting the mind have its own way. Just letting go and letting the mind go wherever it wants. We can't really control the mind. We can only let go of it. Let go and let it do its thing, without needing to listen to it all the time.

Ultimately, you may get really good at tracking the mind's thoughts, and even influencing them in some way. But now, as you begin this practice, just let the mind have its way and go wherever it wants. Coming. Going. Letting go. Let the mind go. Let it have its thoughts, wandering about wherever it wants.www.facebook.com

Continue watching the mind this way for a few minutes. Then, when you feel ready, return your awareness to the room and be certain you're fully back in your body before returning to normal activities. Most people discover how busy the mind is during this exercise. You probably already knew your mind was busy most of the time. You may not have known that you can quiet it. Relaxation Tip: Be Aware of Your Body

By Gordon Rosenberg
Most of us aren't very aware of ourselves. We've learned not to feel pain, or tension, or even pleasure. A relaxed and healthy body needs to be acknowledged and given what it needs to stay healthy. To do this, you must be relatively aware of what's happening inside you.

It's okay to feel your body. Does this seem like an obvious statement? Maybe. But the truth is we're often trained from an early age to not feel our bodies. People around us may think it's not right. Or maybe we hurt them in some way and we try to repress the sensation of pain. Many of us suffered some kind of abuse that convinced us it wasn't safe to feel our bodies.

We Must Listen to Our Bodies

For whatever reason, many, probably most, people on this planet do not sense their own bodies as they should, in order to be healthy. Our bodies need to be acknowledged so we can know how to help them achieve optimum health. Bodies know what they need, but we often stand in the way of them having such things as adequate rest, proper nutrition, the chance to relax deeply now and then, and many other vital things.

Did you know your body can tell you what it needs? Why shouldn't your own body be able to tell you its needs? After all, it's your body. You're in there with it. Why shouldn't it know what to tell you? We just need to learn to listen. This exercise is intended to help you learn to listen to your body. If this exercise helps you become a bit more aware of your body, and relax even a small amount in the beginning, that's fine. As with most things, the more times you practice it, the better you'll become at relaxing.

Body Awareness Exercise

It's helpful if you're in a place that's fairly quiet and you have nothing else on which to focus. Sit comfortably. Begin by paying particular attention to your breath. Take two or three deep, slow breaths. Let your breath move slowly, and as freely as possible, through your body. Feel your breathing as deeply as you can in your body. Let your breath move through all parts of you. Let yourself begin to relax. Let go of any thoughts you may be holding onto, anything you can from your day, any worries, any concerns. Let go of any thoughts about the past, or the future. Just let them go for now.

Let go of any sensations which may arise. Begin letting go of any stress or tension you may be holding in your body. Continue to let go of whatever you may feel yourself holding, any thoughts, or feelings, or concerns, anything that may keep you from relaxing. Let yourself sink slowly into the place where you're sitting. Let go as much as you can and relax into that place.

Imagine Letting It Go

Let energy continue to flow freely through your body. Imagine that you can let go of anything that's not benefiting your body. Just let go and let the energy move more fully through you. Imagine that you're relaxing even deeper. If you feel any particular place in your body, or if your awareness comes to any spot, let that part relax more deeply.www.facebook.com

Let this gentle wave of relaxation move more deeply through your entire body. Gently letting the energy flow down through your body. Let go of holding on. Let go of anything that may not be serving you. Just let go of everything. Take a few moments now and continue to allow your body to relax. Once again be aware of the energy moving through your body. Continue letting go of anything which needs to be released. When you feel ready, bring your awareness fully back into the room around you. Be fully back in your body before resuming your normal activities. See if you can stay relaxed through your day. Relaxation Tip: Be Aware of Your Body

The Different Methods Of Meditation

By Joey Sabrina
Before you can step onto the path of spiritual enlightenment, it is important that you take the time to learn about the different types of meditation. There are forms of meditation from all parts of the globe, although the first written evidence of the use of meditation is dated at roughly 1500 BC from the Hindu Vedantism. Because of its long age, Hindu meditations are very popular in both Eastern and Western cultures.

Beginning with Hindu meditations may not be for you, however. Like other ancient arts, true Hindu meditations can take years to master. This form of meditation is Yoga. There are many branches of Yoga, ranging from those meant for spiritual and mental enlightenment to those designed for physical exercise and therapy.

Buddhism meditations are another form of popular meditations. However, there is a general misconception that using these meditations means that you have to practice the religion. This is not true. You can use the arts of Buddhism to enhance your life without having to live in a monastery. The primary types of meditations from this culture include Anapanasati, Gampopa, and Mantra. Anapanasati relates to the art of breathing. Gampopa is the pursuit of enlightenment through meditative absorption. Mantra is the use of phase repetition. All three of these methods of meditation are simple in concept, allowing those of all ages to make use of them.

There are methods of meditation used in Christianity, although many practitioners are not aware they are meditating. Prayer is considered to be a form of meditation, where reflection on deeds and sins can help focus the spirit and the mind to better your life. Unlike other forms of meditation, these prayers are often accidental meditations. With a little practice, you can use these prayers not only for spiritual balance but to improve your state of mind and emotional health.

Many religions use some form of meditation or another. This is especially true of the Muslim faith. With strict prayer and meditation, Muslim meditations are believed to enhance the quality of healing and enhance creativity. There are several styles of Muslim meditations which include the Tafakkur and the Sufi.

No matter which you choose, do not be afraid to dabble and experiment. Picking the best method of meditation for you is vital if you want to enhance your physical, emotional and spiritual health.www.facebook.com

The Simple Powers Of Meditation

By Adam Rake
The modern world is not run to be calm, soothing and spiritual. We are bombarded with loud noise and negative messages on a daily basis. Our brains are kept busy taking in adverts, negative news, car horns, planes flying overhead. If you live in a modern city this is all background noise to you. The thing is, even if we get used to it it still isn't good for us. We need a visual and mental escape every now and then.

Meditation is one way to achieve this goal. Meditation quiets the mind and allows you to think straight. You will find that when you can turn the noise off to meditate, the things you were confused about or wanted answers for will suddenly seem solvable. This occurs after a good nights rest also because your brain has been given a chance to relax a bit. You might even notice a similar situation with your computer. It might start acting sluggish or misbehaving, but when you restart it, it gives your computers brain a chance to unlock and unwind and come back with speed and clarity.

People often class meditation as something that only a certain type of person does which puts them off doing it. But actually all that it requires is just some peace and quiet and time. Even if you don't have a particular named procedure your peace can still be achieved.www.facebook.com

The simplest version is to find some quiet space and time, relax and close your eyes. You can simply clear your mind of thoughts, particularly stressful ones or find a calming word to keep repeating such as, 'calm', 'peace', 'love', 'soft' or 'ssshh.' Or something that reinforces something positive about yourself such as 'I am fine', 'I am loved', 'I forgive myself.' The Simple Powers Of Meditation

Would You Like to Know The Secret Of Attracting Joy Back Into Your Life?

By Eliya Sydney
How would you like to be in a state of Joy all the time?

Wouldn't that be something!

It can happen.

Not everyone is interested in being Joyous all the time. But if you are reading this, you are one of the ones that is interested.

And you are anxious to get to the part that reveals the "Secret" to living in Joy. I will let the cat out of the bag right here and now.... Meditation. Meditation. And more Meditation. Every day. That's the Secret.

Joy is something we are born with. It is natural, and not something that needs to be learned or earned. We were given certain birthrights the moment (or even before) we took the first breath. Joy is one of them. All abundance, prosperity, health, love, joy is our right. It's not necessary to slave and toil to earn it because it is already yours.

However, throughout the events and experiences in life, due to a lack of spiritual awareness, our free gifts become covered up, over and over again, much like the layers of an onion. They become invisible and forgotten. Only when an emotional or physical crisis pops up do we start to suffer, and suffering causes us to look upwards or inwards for relief.

In order to start removing the layers of that onion, Meditate. Meditation starts to miraculously peel the layers away, and we eventually get back to Joy and all the free blessings we so desperately want. Daily practice of Meditation quiets the body, which quiets the mind. A quiet mind stops thinking.

Use your breathing to stay in that quiet place of no thinking. Eliminate thought, and there is no resistance. The spirit is open to all good things which are ready and waiting to come in, just because you desire them. Just feel and experience and be. The entire vibration of your being is raised, and this is the point of attraction of abundance and prosperity.

I am a Holistic Therapist currently living and practicing Healing in Tel Aviv, Israel. I teach Meditation in order to help people attract Joy, Abundance and Prosperity. Who could ask for anything more?
